The new building of Kymenlaakso University of Applied Sciences ”Paja” was awarded at the Concrete Structure of the Year 2010 competition. It received an honourable mention due to the demanding architectural and structural design and its implementation. The usage of concrete had a significant effect on the final result. Finnmap Consulting Oy was responsible for the structural design of this project along with the persons in charge, head of division Jaakko Yli-Säntti and head of department Urpo Karesniemi.
